This upscale dining saloon, located in Victory Park, offers a unique blend of modern Texas cuisine, fancy cocktails, and an atmosphere that transports you back to the Old West.
As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice the high ceilings, stuffed animals, mounted deer heads, and guns on the walls.
The saloon-style bar and the ceiling fans connected by exposed belts added to the charm.
Every once in a while, a bell rang as someone "bought the kitchen a six-pack," making the whole restaurant clap and cheer.
Before diving into their menu, I started my evening with a killer Sazerac cocktail.
The waiter was accommodating in explaining the specials, which ultimately led me to choose the Wagyu Steak Au Poivre.
It was perfectly cooked, and the sauce, though slightly salty, was delicious.
My partner opted for the Beef Cheek dish, which was so tender it was like eating butter.
For our sides, we shared the Potato Purée and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts.
Both were worth trying, with the potatoes being super thick and the sprouts sweet and caramelized.
The wine selection at Billy Can Can was also impressive, making it a great spot for business entertaining or dining before or after events at the nearby American Airlines Center.

The hyper-seasonal menu, created by the talented and visionary Misti Norris, constantly changes, ensuring that your palate will always be surprised and delighted.
I particularly love their tasting menu, which is only available on Saturdays and requires a reservation.
On other days, they offer a counter service, and while reservations aren't needed, they are recommended for parties of six or more.

The place was positively buzzing with energy!
The meatballs, bacon, and scallops were all mouth-watering, while the Brussel sprouts and roasted mushrooms truly stole the show.
Sadly, I didn't have room for dessert, but I heard great things about their sweet offerings as well.
One thing I must mention is how packed and loud the restaurant was during our visit, which was on a Friday night.
It's essential to make a reservation ahead of time; otherwise, you might be waiting for quite a while.
If possible, I'd recommend asking to be seated away from the bar for a slightly quieter dining experience.
Record Grill
I also recently dined at Record Grill, a pint-sized cash-only diner tucked away in downtown Dallas.
The place has been serving breakfast and lunch comfort eats like burgers and meatloaf for decades.

The dish had a nice level of spice, and I especially enjoyed the multigrain rice, which added a healthy touch to the meal.

The menu at Celebration is filled with American homestyle food that is prepared with fresh, local produce.
For my meal, I decided to try the popular chicken fried steak with gumbo, zucchini squash mix, and green bean mushroom mix.
They even started me off with a complimentary basket of bread that included cornbread, butter rolls, and muffins – such a treat!
Although I found the steak to be a bit overcooked and dry, the breading was delicious, and I enjoyed the jalapeño gravy.
Everything else on my plate was amazing, and I was impressed with the variety and quality of the side dishes.
The gumbo, for example, was full of flavor and felt like a heartwarming appetizer rather than just a side dish.
The service at Celebration was top-notch, too.
Lavendou Bistro Provincial
This past weekend, my wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Lavendou Bistro Provincial.

Fortunately, Lavendou Bistro did not disappoint!
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by a charming and cozy atmosphere.
The decor was relaxing, and though the noise level was a bit high, it wasn't disruptive.

I was also happy to see that they had American and vegetarian options available, catering to diverse tastes.
We started with some strong and flavorful drinks, followed by chips and salsa.
The salsa had a spicy kick to it but had an amazing flavor that I couldn't get enough of.
We then ordered queso as an appetizer, which was decent, but I must say their main dishes were the true stars.
I opted for enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious.
The rice and refried black beans that came with the dish complemented the enchiladas perfectly.
My dining companion had a steak dish that was cooked to perfection and seasoned impeccably.
What I appreciated most about RJ Mexican Cuisine was their commitment to freshness and authentic flavors.

I started with their renowned Salumi board, which was absolutely worth it.
It offered fantastic flavors and a generous portion for sharing.

We decided to share the sampler, which consisted of a Crab Cake, lobster taco, and enchilada – all of which were very well prepared and delicious.
For our entrees, we had Scallops, Beef filet with Chicken Fried Lobster, and the Buffalo filet.
All the dishes were excellently executed with solid flavors, and I must mention the amazing pork belly accompanying the scallops and those unforgettable grits!
But the true highlight of our experience at Fearing's was the dessert.
Each offering seemed to be the best we had ever tasted!
From the Banana pudding and Beignets to the Lemon Ice Box Pie made with tangy Myer Lemon, every element was perfect.
Even the complimentary chocolate cake for our daughter's birthday was remarkable, and the Creek Brûlée was prepared to perfection.
Dakota's Steakhouse
Three weeks ago, I decided to treat myself to a sumptuous dinner at Dakota's Steakhouse in Dallas.
As soon as I entered, I could sense the luxe New Orleans-style ambiance, complete with a beautiful garden waterfall view.
The fact that it's a women-owned and operated business with 40 years of experience made it even more appealing to me.
I made a reservation, which I highly recommend, to ensure that I got a table on a busy night.
Dakota's also offers free parking and outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying the pleasant Dallas weather.
I was seated at a cozy spot with a fantastic view of the garden waterfall, adding to the subterranean seafood and steakhouse's charm.
The menu boasted an extensive selection of corn and grain-fed USDA Prime steaks, aged for a minimum of 28 days.
I opted for one of their popular dishes, and the steak was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor.
Original Market Diner
As I was craving some classic breakfast comfort food, I decided to pay a visit to the Original Market Diner.
The moment I stepped inside, the old-timey establishment gave me a warm, welcoming feeling.
I could barely decide what to order as their enormous breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu had all my cravings covered.
I ended up ordering an omelet and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size.
My friends joined me and also ordered different omelets, making our table quite cramped but full of delicious breakfast choices.
The food exceeded my expectations, and it was evident why Original Market Diner had been voted Best Diner and Top Breakfast & Brunch by multiple publications in Dallas.
During another visit, I tried their blueberry waffle with a side of bacon and sausage.
The blueberry compote served along with the waffle was a delightful touch, and the bacon and sausage were cooked to perfection.
With every visit, I'm reminded of how much I love this local gem and look forward to experiencing more of their delectable dishes in the future.
Angry Dog
If you're ever in the mood for some tasty bar food and a great atmosphere, you need to check out Angry Dog.
I've been going there for years, and not only do they have incredible burgers, hot dogs, and hot wings, but they also offer a wide variety of ice-cold beverages and really friendly service with a local flavor.
One of the things that keep me coming back is their Chicken Spiedies - a real treasure for us Upstate NY Natives.
Their wings are also amazing, especially the spicy lemon pepper with blue cheese dressing.
And let's not forget the award-winning burgers!
I usually pair my meal with a spicy Bloody Mary or a local beer, and it never disappoints.
Just a heads up, parking in the area can be a bit tricky.
You might need to pay for a parking lot, garage, or metered street parking.
But trust me, it's worth it.
And while you're there, don't miss the chance to visit the Angry Dog bathrooms - it's an experience in itself.
The place can get busy during big sporting events and local games, so plan your visit accordingly.
Shivas Bar and Grill
I once visited Shivas Bar and Grill after hearing great things about their authentic Indian cuisine.
As soon as I walked in, I was immediately impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.
The menu had a wide variety of Northern and Southern Indian fare, including several vegetarian options, which was perfect for my dietary preferences.
I began my meal with the Samosa Chatt, which was served cold and had an amazing blend of flavors.
For my main course, I decided to go with the Butter Chicken Masala, and my dining companion ordered the Lamb Vindaloo.
We both opted for a spice level of 5, and the dishes did not disappoint!
Our server was incredibly attentive and made sure our order was accurate while also offering some great suggestions, like the Garlic Naan.
The naan bread was freshly made and a perfect addition to our meal.
The service was quick even though the restaurant was packed, which made the experience even better.
City Hall Bistro
One of my favorite places to dine in Dallas is the City Hall Bistro, located inside the beautiful Adolphus Hotel.
The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch, making it perfect for any time of the day.
I remember one particular visit for brunch, where I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it was absolutely delicious.
I also shared a plate of French toast with my dining partner, which was some of the best I've ever had.
The orange juice was freshly pressed, making it a perfect accompaniment to our meal.
The ambiance was inviting, and our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
City Hall Bistro's breakfast options have also left me satisfied.
I once tried their avocado toast, and it was delicious.
On another visit, I opted for their traditional breakfast, which was also a delightful choice.
If you're dining with kids, they have a great toast and fruit side option, and they don't skimp on the fruit bowl.
In addition to its fantastic food, the City Hall Bistro also has a lovely bar area with live music on Friday nights and weekends, making it an excellent spot for relaxing and catching up with friends.
Toulouse Café and Bar
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of experiencing a delightful brunch at Toulouse Café and Bar with a friend.
We opted to sit on their covered patio, which allowed us to enjoy the nice weather along with our meal.
The menu is filled with French bistro classics, and I decided to try the quiche of the day, which had sausage, onion, and other delicious ingredients.
My friend went for the lobster roll on a croissant, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
We even decided to indulge a little and share some baked Brie, which was a great decision.
One of the highlights of our brunch was the impeccable service.
Nonna
Once, I decided to treat myself to an exquisite Italian meal and visited Nonna for the evening.
As soon as I stepped inside, I was captivated by the homey brick-walled ambiance and high ceilings.
The place was buzzing with energy, and I could already tell that I was in for a great dining experience.
I started my meal with the grilled avocado with fennel, grapefruit, and fresh peas.
It was a delightful combination of flavors, and I could tell that the ingredients were incredibly fresh.
For my entrée, I chose the garganelli alla bolognese, which was the special for the day.
The pasta was freshly made and cooked to al dente perfection.
I loved how Nonna used seasonal ingredients to create unique and flavorful dishes.
I overheard other diners raving about the lobster ravioli and clam pie, so I made a mental note to try those on my next visit.
During my time at Nonna, I found the service to be exceptional.
Meso Maya Comida y Copas
Meso Maya Comida y Copas is a contemporary Mexican eatery in town!
As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the beautiful ambiance and the trendy crowd.
The hostesses were super sweet and accommodating, even though I didn't have a reservation.
I was excited to embark on a culinary adventure into the fresh, bold, and earthy flavors of authentic, interior Mexico.
The unlimited chips and salsa were a fantastic start to my meal.
The chips were warm and crispy, while the salsa boasted a rich flavor.
I also tried the queso and guac, which were both delicious.
For my main course, I opted for the enchiladas, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice.
The flavors were mouth-watering, and each dish was plated in a way that complemented the taste perfectly.
I noticed that Meso Maya also offers takeout, which is great to know for future reference.
I'd love to enjoy their tasty dishes from the comfort of my own home.
