Salum Restaurant

Yelp

Salum Restaurant has quickly become a favorite spot of mine.

I was initially attracted by the seasonal New American dishes created by Chef Abraham Salum and the elegant ambiance of the restaurant.

The moment I stepped inside, I was instantly welcomed by the warm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic date night or a casual gathering with friends.

Upon being seated, I noticed that the executive chef was amiable and personable, making me feel right at home.

To start, I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were delightful – a generous portion with a beautiful crunch, complemented by a tasty remoulade.

Throughout the night, I tried several of their cocktails; each was better than the last.

For my main course, I decided on the rack of lamb, which was a fantastic choice.

It was tender and juicy, served with an incredible mushroom bread pudding that I would happily eat.

My dining companions enjoyed the seared scallops over lentil purée and pan-roasted halibut with pesto Parmesan risotto.

We even shared a heavenly peanut butter crème brûlée for dessert, which left us all thoroughly satisfied.

Gorji Restaurant

As a resident of Dallas, I love treating myself to a special dining experience now and then, and one of my favorite places to visit is Gorji Restaurant.

This cozy, classy venue serves elevated Mediterranean dishes, desserts, and a fantastic selection of wine.

The intimate setting, with only five tables, adds to the charm and exclusivity of the place.

What sets Gorji apart is its dedication to providing fine dining with fresh ingredients.

They offer a set menu based on the ingredients they receive that day, which makes every visit a unique experience.

The menu features popular dishes like Beef Filet Mignon, Grilled Octopus, Medjool Date Butterfly, and Gorgonzola Gnocchi.

I've tried their vegetarian options as well, and they never disappoint.

Another thing that makes Gorji stand out is that it's the first and only no-tipping restaurant in Dallas.

This concept provides a stress-free dining experience, as the service charges are already included in the price of the meal.

Wine enthusiasts will appreciate their curated selection of reds and whites, which perfectly complement the three or four-course menu options.

And if you're a fan of their award-winning sauces, you can even purchase them at the restaurant or online, along with Chef Gorji's cookbook, Zing!

I remember celebrating Mother's Day at Gorji, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Maple Leaf Diner

https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/maple-leaf-diner-dallas

I recently visited Maple Leaf Diner and was thrilled with my experience.

Upon arrival, I noticed the diner's cozy and warm atmosphere, which instantly made me feel welcomed.

The staff was friendly, and the full bar was a nice addition to the casual dining environment.

The place was busy, but my friends and I were seated and attended to quite quickly.

One of my friends, who's originally from Canada, insisted we try the poutine, and I must say, it was amazing!

The gravy was thick and rich, the cheese curds were fresh, and the overall taste was divine.

As someone who's never been to Canada, it was a delightful introduction to the Canadian staple dish.

I was also impressed with the variety of dishes on the menu.

I ordered the meatloaf, also known as "beef in a bonnet," which was incredibly tasty but heavy on mashed potatoes.

My friends tried the chicken fried steak poutine and the classic pancakes, which they couldn't stop raving about.

While waiting for our main courses, I checked in on their website and was pleasantly surprised to receive a couple of free raspberry lemon cookies, which turned out to be a delicious treat.

Maple Leaf Diner truly lives up to its reputation, as seen on Food Network's Incredible Edible America and Travel Channel's Food Paradise.

https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/billy-can-can-dallas-4

Being a Dallas local, I've had my fair share of dining experiences, but my recent visit to Billy Can Can was truly memorable.

This upscale dining saloon, located in Victory Park, offers a unique blend of modern Texas cuisine, fancy cocktails, and an atmosphere that transports you back to the Old West.

As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice the high ceilings, stuffed animals, mounted deer heads, and guns on the walls.

The saloon-style bar and the ceiling fans connected by exposed belts added to the charm.

Every once in a while, a bell rang as someone "bought the kitchen a six-pack," making the whole restaurant clap and cheer.

Before diving into their menu, I started my evening with a killer Sazerac cocktail.

The waiter was accommodating in explaining the specials, which ultimately led me to choose the Wagyu Steak Au Poivre.

It was perfectly cooked, and the sauce, though slightly salty, was delicious.

My partner opted for the Beef Cheek dish, which was so tender it was like eating butter.

For our sides, we shared the Potato Purée and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts.

Both were worth trying, with the potatoes being super thick and the sprouts sweet and caramelized.

The wine selection at Billy Can Can was also impressive, making it a great spot for business entertaining or dining before or after events at the nearby American Airlines Center.

The atmosphere, food, and drinks contributed to a fantastic night out.

Cafe Momentum

Cafe Momentum is a New American spot created by Chad Houser, which serves a dual purpose as a nonprofit that helps at-risk youths learn culinary skills.

The concept alone intrigued me, but the experience and the food exceeded all my expectations.

From the moment I walked in, I could sense the positive atmosphere and dedication of the staff, comprised of young men and women participating in the Cafe Momentum program.

They rotate through every aspect of the restaurant, working side-by-side with established chefs, learning valuable life skills, and gaining real-world experience in a nurturing environment.

For my meal, I was treated to various delicious dishes, including sweet and sticky ribs, smoked fried chicken, buttery mac and cheese, crispy snapper fish, and lobster pasta.

Each dish was prepared to perfection and presented beautifully.

I also appreciated the ever-changing menu, showcasing the creativity and skill of these young talents.

They were genuinely excited to share their stories, and I could tell that this unique opportunity was having a profound impact on their lives.

Living nearby, I have always been intrigued by The Charles and finally decided to give it a try.

I must say, I was impressed from the moment I stepped in.

This stylish, upscale restaurant and bar offers wood-fired Italian classics plus wine and cocktails, making it an excellent choice for a date night or a gathering with friends.

I later found out that you can request to be seated there, and they still offer the full menu.

Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making excellent recommendations for both food and drinks.

We started our meal with some complimentary veggie orders and an octopus dish, which was incredibly tender and flavorful.

Next, we ordered the bucatini carbonara, which was mixed together tableside – a nice touch that added to the dining experience.

As a pasta lover, I couldn't resist trying the spicy creste di gallo and the lemon ricotta gnudi, both of which were absolutely delicious.

Another standout dish was the crudo with a blackberry purée, which was so good that I wish I could have it every day.

The Charles also offers several gluten-free options, including house-made gluten-free pasta that can be substituted in many of their dishes.

What truly impressed me was the quality of the food offered at such reasonable prices.

The cider and wine bar was equally impressive, offering a delightful range of hard ciders, hard kombuchas, hard seltzers, and wines, all made in-house by Bishop Cider.

I highly recommend trying the Island Breeze, a refreshing blend of pineapple and Mexican vanilla.

https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gemma-dallas

Gemma in Dallas has a laid-back, coastal Californian vibe adorned in white and blue and offers some of the best New American dishes I've tasted.

Upon arrival, I appreciated the convenient parking and the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Before I had even placed my order, I was presented with a complimentary Gouda fig scone, which was honestly out of this world.

I wish they sold these in bulk because I couldn't get enough of it!

For starters, I ordered the beets and burrata, which was a refreshing and delicious way to begin my meal.

The fried olives were also highly recommended, so I had to try them – and they did not disappoint.

The unique blend of flavors and textures in these dishes truly sets Gemma apart from other dining experiences.

For my main course, I couldn't resist the tempting rabbit pappardelle.

It was a bit heavy on the salt, but the pasta was cooked to perfection and the flavors were undeniably rich and satisfying.

I finally had the chance to visit Sloane's Corner last weekend, and it certainly lived up to the hype!

My friends and I initially planned to dine at another restaurant nearby, but it was fully booked.

Thankfully, we stumbled upon Sloane's Corner and were pleasantly surprised by the cozy, chic atmosphere and delicious American bistro fare.

We were seated on the heated enclosed patio which was perfect for the chilly evening and even enjoyed live music from a talented performer.

I must say, the ambiance of the outdoor dining area was better than sitting inside, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.

For appetizers, we ordered the Brûlée Brie, which was divine, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

The menu had a variety of creative takes on comfort foods and pastas.

I opted for the Chittarra Vongole, and it was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had.

The combination of flavors and textures made it a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

Aside from the fantastic food, the service at Sloane's Corner was top-notch as well.

https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/petra-and-the-beast-dallas

One of my favorite places to dine in Dallas is undoubtedly Petra and the Beast.

This cozy and unassuming restaurant is my go-to spot for farm-to-fork, New American cuisine.

The hyper-seasonal menu, created by the talented and visionary Misti Norris, constantly changes, ensuring that your palate will always be surprised and delighted.

I particularly love their tasting menu, which is only available on Saturdays and requires a reservation.

On other days, they offer a counter service, and while reservations aren't needed, they are recommended for parties of six or more.

I can't forget to mention that Petra and the Beast is a BYOB establishment, allowing you to bring your favorite bottle of wine to complement the amazing flavors in each dish.

Some standout dishes I've enjoyed include the beef tongue pasta, sour pork, braised pigtails, and their unique charcuterie boards.

Town Hearth

35 Best Restaurants in Dallas, TX
https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/town-hearth-dallas

Town Hearth is a swanky Dallas restaurant that serves up a fantastic selection of steaks, seafood, and classic cocktails.

The moment I stepped inside, I was taken aback by the breathtaking decor and the hustle and bustle of the packed dining room.

The place was positively buzzing with energy!

The meatballs, bacon, and scallops were all mouth-watering, while the Brussel sprouts and roasted mushrooms truly stole the show.

Sadly, I didn't have room for dessert, but I heard great things about their sweet offerings as well.

One thing I must mention is how packed and loud the restaurant was during our visit, which was on a Friday night.

It's essential to make a reservation ahead of time; otherwise, you might be waiting for quite a while.

If possible, I'd recommend asking to be seated away from the bar for a slightly quieter dining experience.

Record Grill

35 Best Restaurants in Dallas, TX
https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/record-grill-dallas

I also recently dined at Record Grill, a pint-sized cash-only diner tucked away in downtown Dallas.

The place has been serving breakfast and lunch comfort eats like burgers and meatloaf for decades.

As I walked in, I immediately noticed the small, vintage ambiance with just a counter and a few tables.

The overall vibe gave it a unique, old-school charm.

I grabbed a stool at the counter, which gave me a front-row seat to the action happening on the grill.

The menu was simple and well-priced, offering a variety of both breakfast and lunch options.

I decided to go for the cheeseburger, which turned out to be an excellent choice – it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.

While enjoying my meal, I couldn't help but overhear a fellow diner rave about the hotcakes, eggs, and meats they'd ordered – all for under $10!

Another customer mentioned their love for the lemon pound cake, which I made a mental note to try on my next visit.

One thing to note for anyone planning to visit is that they accept cash only, so be sure to have some on hand.

The location is also conveniently close to a DART rail stop – the West End, making it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike.

I started off by ordering the pork & shrimp dumplings with garlic soy, which were hands down my favorite of the meal.

These flavorful bites had the perfect blend of savory and tangy flavors, and I couldn't help but devour all five pieces!

Next, I tried the chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce.

The skewers were tender and well-seasoned, with a hint of sweetness that paired well with the rich peanut sauce.

For my main course, I had chicken green curry with multigrain rice, featuring Thai eggplant, bamboo shoot, and basil.

The dish had a nice level of spice, and I especially enjoyed the multigrain rice, which added a healthy touch to the meal.

My most recent visit to Celebration was nothing short of delightful.

As I entered the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel the family-oriented and relaxed atmosphere that Celebration is known for.

The interior made me feel like I was eating at a friend's home, and I loved that I got my own private booth, which provided a more intimate dining experience.

The menu at Celebration is filled with American homestyle food that is prepared with fresh, local produce.

For my meal, I decided to try the popular chicken fried steak with gumbo, zucchini squash mix, and green bean mushroom mix.

They even started me off with a complimentary basket of bread that included cornbread, butter rolls, and muffins – such a treat!

Although I found the steak to be a bit overcooked and dry, the breading was delicious, and I enjoyed the jalapeño gravy.

Everything else on my plate was amazing, and I was impressed with the variety and quality of the side dishes.

The gumbo, for example, was full of flavor and felt like a heartwarming appetizer rather than just a side dish.

The service at Celebration was top-notch, too.

Fortunately, Lavendou Bistro did not disappoint!

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by a charming and cozy atmosphere.

The decor was relaxing, and though the noise level was a bit high, it wasn't disruptive.

We started off our meal with drinks - my wife had a vodka martini while I enjoyed a lovely Bordeaux.

They had a nice selection of wines, and I wished I had someone to share a bottle with.

For appetizers, my wife ordered the escargot, which she said was excellent and enjoyed immensely.

I opted for a salad, which came with a delicious dressing.

For our main courses, I had the tenderloin in a cognac and cream sauce, while my wife tried the Coquille St. Jacques.

For my main course, I opted for the Chilean Sea Bass.

The fish was light and cooked to perfection, with firm flesh and meat fibers that could easily be separated without breaking.

The accompanying Risotto was equally impressive, with each grain firm on the outside and soft on the inside, while the carrots, cooked in sesame oil, added a delightful contrast of flavors.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by the attentive and professional staff.

The bartender was a seasoned pro, and all of our drinks were spot on.

For appetizers, we tried fried calamari and lamb chops, which were both heavenly.

The lamb chops melted in my mouth and the calamari was light and flavorful.

Of course, the star of the show was the steak.

I tried the 12oz Filet Pittsburgh medium rare, which was cooked to perfection with a beautiful crust.

My friends ordered the 8oz filet and Kansas City bone-in strip, and everyone agreed that the steaks were cooked just right.

The meals also came with an amazing large carrot that was cooked so well, it was a beautiful accompaniment to the steaks.

To top it off, we indulged in their signature hash browns with peppercorn sauce and a delightful piece of carrot cake for dessert.

The wine list was impressive, offering a variety of options at different price points.

I chose a delicious Margaux that perfectly complemented our meal.

Last week, I decided to try a new Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood and stumbled upon RJ Mexican Cuisine in the West End.

The comfortable setting and broad menu offering authentic Mexican fare caught my attention, and I knew I had to give it a try.

I was also happy to see that they had American and vegetarian options available, catering to diverse tastes.

We started with some strong and flavorful drinks, followed by chips and salsa.

The salsa had a spicy kick to it but had an amazing flavor that I couldn't get enough of.

We then ordered queso as an appetizer, which was decent, but I must say their main dishes were the true stars.

I opted for enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious.

It was my first time trying buffalo, and I was blown away by its juiciness and flavor.

We also had the scallops served over cashew butter and raisin rice with a side of roasted cauliflower.

The creamy rice was a perfect match for the scallops, making each bite a delightful experience.

To end our meal, we shared a slice of key lime pie and a scoop of blood orange sorbet.

For my main course, I ordered the 14 oz prime-aged ribeye, and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had.

Cooked to perfection, the rub on the steak was flavorful and complemented the tender, juicy meat incredibly well.

As for the sides, I opted for the Brussel sprouts, green beans, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes - all of which only elevated the meal to a higher level.

I was also impressed with the wine list, which features more than 350 selections and an impressive floor-to-ceiling wine kiosk that houses 3,500 - 5,000 bottles.

When my meal arrived, I was blown away by the quality and taste of the food.

The steak was cooked to perfection, and I must say that their drinks were just as exquisite.

Though I intended to have only one drink to unwind after a long work week, I couldn't resist indulging in a second.

The Capital Grille truly made my dining experience memorable, and I cannot wait to return to celebrate special occasions or simply to treat myself to a fantastic meal.

The combination of impeccable service, a warm atmosphere, and delectable food makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone in the Dallas area.

Lucia is a popular Italian restaurant in Dallas. Located in a cozy, rustic space dating back to the 1920s, the atmosphere immediately made me feel at home.

I made a reservation a month in advance when I visited there, which is highly recommended given the restaurant's popularity.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with excellent service and an impressive menu filled with creative Italian fare.

I started with their renowned Salumi board, which was absolutely worth it.

It offered fantastic flavors and a generous portion for sharing.

I also enjoyed a delightful Baby It's Cold Outside cocktail, which was a unique, refreshing take on an old fashioned.

Since the menu changes frequently, I indulged in a few different pasta dishes, a shared main course, and a shared dessert.

All the dishes were superb, with the dessert, donut-like treats called Bomboloni, being a particular highlight.

Every now and then, I find myself craving some delicious French cuisine, and one of my favorite spots for that is Cadot Restaurant.

Last time I visited Cadot, I had an incredible overall experience, from the food and wine to the service and ambiance.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was pleased to be seated in the front dining room, which is my favorite area.

I began my meal with the seared Foie Gras and smoked salmon appetizers, both of which were absolutely divine.

The Foie Gras, in particular, was perfectly cooked and paired well with the addition of figs.

Their wine list by the glass was reasonable and flavorful, offering a great selection to complement any dish.

For my entrée, I decided to try the flat iron steak, and it turned out to be an excellent choice.

The steak was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying Pom fries were delicious.

My dining companions opted for the evening special duck confit and a crabcake appetizer, both of which they thoroughly enjoyed.

To end our meal on a sweet note, the three of us shared a Grand Marnier soufflé.

The soufflé was light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness for each of us to savor a little taste.

I celebrated my daughter's birthday at Fearing's Restaurant a few months ago, and I must say, it was an incredible experience.

Located at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas, this modern restaurant offers authentic Southern cuisine using ingredients from local farms.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, the warm and friendly service team greeted and seated us promptly.

The delicious breadbasket with three bread offerings and smoked butter arrived, and we particularly enjoyed the sourdough.

We also received a complimentary amuse of the tiniest taco ever, which was a delightful treat!

We decided to share the sampler, which consisted of a Crab Cake, lobster taco, and enchilada – all of which were very well prepared and delicious.

For our entrees, we had Scallops, Beef filet with Chicken Fried Lobster, and the Buffalo filet.

All the dishes were excellently executed with solid flavors, and I must mention the amazing pork belly accompanying the scallops and those unforgettable grits!

But the true highlight of our experience at Fearing's was the dessert.

Each offering seemed to be the best we had ever tasted!

From the Banana pudding and Beignets to the Lemon Ice Box Pie made with tangy Myer Lemon, every element was perfect.

Even the complimentary chocolate cake for our daughter's birthday was remarkable, and the Creek Brûlée was prepared to perfection.
